Time travel through Veenpark & Veenvaart

Start the day in the Veenpark, the largest open-air museum in the Netherlands. There you can experience life before, during and after peat harvesting. In the afternoon, rent a barge and enjoy the unique landscape from the Veenvaart. For a picnic on the centuries-old boulders, moor at the Berkenrode nature reserve, a raised bog that escaped the excavation. The journey continues to the lock, lowering you five metres on the Hondsrug. This spectacle is closely observed by curious passers-by at the nearby tea house. During your trip over the Veenvaart, visit the Van Gogh Huis in Veenoord/Nieuw-Amsterdam. The place where Vincent van Gogh stayed in 1883 when he was in Drenthe seeking inspiration for his painting.
